First off welcome yo martial talk and to answer your quearion it was in the early fifties but it was him and some other members of kwan that made up the Chon ji pattern.

I know, General Choi has shown his first pattern (forms) in Feruary 1964 in Saigon to Major Baek, Joon Ki. In summer 1964 he has created 20 of the 24 pattern. The first name for the pattern is Hyeong (Hyung, Hyong).

The renaming of the hyong in the tul took place sometime between the 70s and late 80s.

But I would like the exact date and the source where I can find it.
