On another thread I described squaddies, this is also a good description of them. It's been a year now nearly since our Brigade came back from Afghan, a year on Sept 18th that my martial arts student Steptoe was killed aged 20. Our other students lost mates out there, it's still raw. We have some of the injured making their way back to their units, some missing limbs still under treatment. Most of the regiments are away in BATUS Canada training, back in a couple of weeks. They are training for next years tour of Afghan. A new Personnnel Recovery Centre is being built here for the wounded to be rehabilitated either back into the army or into civvie street..paid for by charities Help For Heroes and the Royal British Legion, the government won't put it's hand in it's pocket.
Someone, somewhere said that by the time Afghan is done every person in the UK will know someone who has died or been injured there, America is a bigger place but has more troops, I think they may be the same though.

I give you the average British soldier.
