scrolls question

Black Belt
I have been looking at Karate wall hanging scrolls and noticed that some of them have small red squares on them. What are they and what to they do/say?

Hard to see, basically lower left on both. Thanks.

Most likely it's the seal/stamp of the author. Much like a signature on a document. Was/is common in Japan and also, I think, Korea and maybe China. One's karate or judo rank certificate may have one if the instructor is Oriental. Red seems to be the most common color, but I've seen black as well.

Interesting.

Is it just a design or does it say something?

Did you create it?

Is it a stamp?

Thanks.

The stamp is the black object and on the right is a little ink paste receptacle….

I don't think I would have any use for one. But, they are really cool. And affordable! Everything you wanted to know:

Christmas cards? Personal letters? Business letters? Marking student assignments? Business card embellishments? All ways to use a hanko and appear really poncy.
