I'm bettin' there just wasn't asvertising $$ behind it to keep it going. It's a real shame.

I didn't get it when I first saw it and I don't get it now...it's Olympic sparring sans protective gear. What’s the point? I’d much rather they keep the protective gear(even add more) and get rid of some of those silly restrictive rules.

A rather good point there, foot2face...

Personally, I feel points should be deducted every time someone loses balance after kicking.

Nevertheless, it was a good fight, as far as the rules allowed.

I just saw this for the first time. Interesting without chest protectors.


I've never worn a chest protector - the ITF doesn't use them (unless that's changed recently - but I doubt it). I was more interested in the total lack of pads - don't see that as much anymore, although quite a few of my seniors started before pads were introduced, and we still do about half our in-class (not tournament) sparring without them.
