Officer in New Year's Day Subway Shooting Will Stand Trial for Murder

Officer Mehserle will stand trial for murder for the shooting of Oscar Grant on New Year's Day this year. The relevant MartialTalk thread is here.

After listening to seven days of testimony, Judge C. Don Clay concluded that Mehserle hadn't gotten his stun gun and his service pistol mixed up when he shot Oscar Grant in the back at the Fruitvale Station in Oakland early New Year's Day.

An interesting development. I wasn't sure this thing would go to trial.

If he meant to go for the gun and lied about the things it seems he lied about in the hearings I hope he's convicted. And I hope he spends the rest of his short life as a former cop in General Population.
