Office discovery tool

We are in the throws of installing and getting operational SMS. In the mean time (or to use as justification to up the roll-out process) are there any other tools that some may have used to obtain what the users have on their desktop/laptops for office product....We had a tool caled Belarc that the licensing just ran out on and the VP doesn't want to re-purchase it knowing SMS is on the horizon....We just rolled out Dameware and I think that may be useful but haven't had the time to devote to the reporting piece of this tool as yet (recognize that finding time means getting approval to spend time on that...)

We've used LogInfo from RJL Software to collect system information on client machines. If your company doesn't mind using shareware, it may be a nice intermediate collection tool until you get SMS (good luck with that!) going.
