Most reports Ive read say that 50% are home..25% are home but training for deployment and 25% are forward deployed. So theoretically 75% can be called up if the 25% are recalled from train-up.

There are sufficient troops on the ground; the issue was deployment and clarity of mission (B is still an issue)

Coupled with a clear command and control stucture, with the buck stopping at an incident commander who controls the big picture

With all the units going overseas, how many people and equiptment is really available to help here at home?
There are ~ 450,000 people in the Air and Army National Guard total.

I think last I heard the US had less than 200,000 troops in Iraq, so even if all the troops in Iraq were NG troops (which they are not) there are still 250,000+ NG members here that are available be called to NO.
