I know they use martial artists to administer canings in Singapore...here's another case where a martial artist's skills could come in handy. I know some FMAers (and other martial artists) who can deliver one heck of a slap. I like the slap as a fist-preserving alternative to the hook, in fact.

There was a big, burly mechanic around here, kind of a "biker" type, who ended up serving time for manslaughter because he killed a man with a slap.

Not to be underestimated.
