Basically, he teaches beginners how to stab, cut, and slash, fast and aggressively against an unarmed "defender". When they get it down, he has them go up against very experienced senior students who are unarmed. The unarmed senior practitioners try to defend against the non-compliant, armed and aggressively attacking beginners. Guess who wins.

Anyway, the exercise is a real eye-opener for everyone, especially "experienced" students who have "mastered" a lot of empty-handed knife defenses.

Anybody else train like this?
