As many of you will have read or already know, the date of Do-Sans birth is incorrect - it is not as given by the ITF (and Gen Choi) as 1876 but is in fact 1878.

Dont believe me.. well see here:
http://www.dosan.org/home.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahn_Chang-ho

Okay.. so it is clear that the dates given is incorrect and as this is a noted figure, both in Korean history and Taekwon-do I think a correction should be acknowledged and made to ALL ITF literature that can be changed. This includes web sites that are incorrect (99.9999% of TKD web sites), the BIG ITF sites, students syllabus and reprints of any books on TKD!
I think thats only right as from my research Do-San was a great man and deserves to be remembered correctly!

Thoughts?

Can you explain the significance of this on the thread so that we see the relevance?

Sure (I guess those who don't do this pattern may not realise what I'm talking about - sorry).. Anyway, in ALL ITF/Ch'ang hon based literature the historical dates of Do-San are incorrect (see http://www.itf-information.com/patterns04.htm). And each time the meaning of the pattern (Do-San) is repeated (printed, web pages, books, grading questions etc.) it is repeated in its incorrect form and I simply feel that it should be corrected as Do-San is a historical and revereved figure both in Ch'ang Hon TKD and Korean history, so derseves the correct details and thus, they need to be ammended almost everywhere.

Ps. Further examples from a random google search of the meaning of Do-San:

http://www.taekwondopatterns.info/do-san/
http://www.taekwondo.co.uk/syllabus/patterns.asp?pattern=944

Pps. Whilst doing that search i foudn one that had been correct - wicked :) http://drysdaletkd.blogspot.com/2009/01/history-of-do-san-7th-gup-pattern-of.html
