Looks like y'all got SB184 out of the Senate, intact, and without the typical poison pills the Taft regime would have wanted. Governor Ted Strickland has said he'll gladly sign it.

While it was nice that Ohio finally got CCW a few years ago, that law was so full of poison pills, that it placed a huge burden on the law abiding civilian, and that any slip could result in serious consequences.

The new soon-to-be law, even with the changes, is still far from ideal, but at least this is a large step in the right direction. Kudos to Governor Strickland, who has a much stouter spine than Bob Taft ever had (basically telling a particularly anti-gun branch of a certain organization to get lost).

A lot of the provisions of this bill are already in effect in California, but to get a ccw license in most counties you either have to be a judge, a DA or a heavy contributor to the local sheriff's election campaign...we need a shall issue law now! Anybody with ideas on how to accomplish this is welcome to respond.
