I like many of the circular moves, his elbow block is something I am working on incorporating, but our shihan warns us that while it is a valid block, it has a risk that it deflects and incoming punch into your own head if it does not time well.
I have come to a personal insight that some of the circular techniques serves me well, as it's energy conserving and can be nicely integrated to a counter. But I'm struggling with fiding a rythm to make make this work well in the typical kyokushin kumite where you immediately pull back the limbs.
I tried it and some parnters favaours a long guard, and that also makes them more vulnerable to certain tricks.
I admit that I like the circular techniques more commong in CMA, I think mixing them with the linear hard strikes could be a fruitful mix to a larger extent that i've done so far.
