Five hurt as meteorite crashes to earth in India: report

Five people were injured and two houses gutted when a meteorite crashed to earth in eastern India after panicking hundreds of villagers as it shot across the sky, reports and residents said.

O.K. so when do the giant mutated cockroaches and the super heroes start to appear? Gotta wonder though, if this is just the first of a field or if it was all on it's own and why didn't our bazillion dollar sattelites pick it up before it hit?

There is just way to much sky to keep tabs on at all times. Plus they didn't mention how big it was. Something the size of a small car(or even smaller depending on the angle it is coming in and the speed it is traveling) can cause that much damage, or more. Could you imagine trying to find a VW bug in the night sky, traveling at 45,000 mph. Those scopes are out to try to find the killer asteroids.


Technical note- Meteorites cannot fall from the sky. They don't become meteorites until they touch the earth's soil and survive. Until then they are meteors and/or asteroids. Yeah I know, shut up and who cares. But after my score on the "how dumb are you" test. I felt a need to try to redeem myself.
