Losing 29-28, Howard got his opening with 20 seconds left. The fight got back to the feet and Hallman retreated when he got nailed with an inside leg kick. Howard drilled him with a short left and then floored him with a big left hook. Referee Josh Rosenthal stopped the fight with five seconds left. Hallman was out for a second but may have been to scramble and survive. He wasn't given the chance. Either way Howard is now 3-0 in the UFC. Hallman (41-13-2, 1-4 UFC), fighting in the UFc for the first time since 2005 was denied his second UFC win.

Howard (13-4, 3-0 UFC) was controlled on the ground for the first two rounds. He fought off a rear-naked choke for most of the second round.

Is there anyone else on earth who can say he has a UFC win over Matt Hughes but is winless in the UFC beyond that? Hallman was excellent on the ground but never really poured it on to try and secure the finish. He paid for it.
