When i started to live and train in thailand the plow was still in use and my trainer was absolutely brilliant at it. He still is remarkable with it even at his age. I was glad i learned it then because as they years wore on, the rules changed for its use and they have adjusted its use to be shorter and faster. The fighters used to really run the opponent and try to send him flying through the ropes or over the top, guys who were good at it could really ruin your day.

But in answer to your question, techniques like the plow, start from a catch or grab of the leg but you will have a bit more variables in follow up in old bare knuckle repertoire, though muay thai streamlined them into fast, functional movement with choice followups.
