How effective is it to use a foam roller to practise headlocks and other similar grappling moves?

And now I'm curious and wondering if I should buy a foam roller from my local Gold's gym. Is this an effective way to practise headlocks and guillotine chokes and other similar type of "under my arm pit with whole arm wrapped over you" grappling techniques?

Try to find a street sign, a smooth surface tree, or a set up pole. Pole hanging is the best method for your purpose. You let your own body weight to develop your head lock strength.

Try to see if you can break a small watermelon with your head lock.

It can be quite useful in the ground game.

Single arm hanging can be more difficult.

It would be hard to know if you are doing it right with a foam roller. And head squeeze stuff you can be doing it wrong and essentially achieve nothing.
