Very different from how we stick spar--there's a lot more two-handed work there for example, where we use the empty hand more to interfere with the opponent's stickwork (which I saw some of also).

The extra length and asymmetrical balance of the Bartitsu cane makes a big difference re. handling and fighting tactics. A typical Bartitsu cane is 36" long and features a ball handle on one end (steel in the real weapon, hard rubber in sparring weapons), so it basically has one slower, hard-hitting end and one faster, stinging end.

Ah, I hadn't picked up on that--I think I thought I was seeing a guard on the end of the cane, but then saw both ends being used! Yeah, we use a 24-28" stick with no distinguishing features.
