Spending bill includes new Presidential yacht

In the midst of an otherwise dry article on a multi-billion dollar spending bill working its way through Congress, the following was spotted.

The Senate voted 65-30 for the legislation late on Saturday that sets aside funds for a range of priorities including a presidential yacht, foreign aid and energy. It is one of the final pieces of work for the 108th Congress and they may return to finish a spy agency overhaul before the end of the year.

Thought this was interesting in light of the record budget deficit and Bush's calls for fiscal restraint.

i didnt even know they had a yacht i woudl guess that would go laong with the new helicopters and so on

I just seen something on tv a few weeks ago about an old Presidential yacht that was about hundred years old. It had carried something like a dozen Presidents and was now privately owned and still operated in NY. It looked more like a big old wood house boat but it was really cool.
