Is there any familial connection between "lei tai" and "lethwei"?

Two full-contact martial arts forms with such similar names...

I thought they were the same thing until I did some Youtub'ing a moment again...

I don't know what "lethwei" is, but lei tai is just a raised platform for fighting on in China.

Lei tai is not a martial art, as clfsean mentioned above, it is a platform that fighting competitions are historically done on in China.

clfsean, Lethwei is basically the Burmese version of Muay Thai.

Also Kforcer, the two terms are not necessarily that similar, you are drawing a connection between the English transliterations of two other languages that are only distantly related.
