The filmmaker behind "Chasing Amy," "Dogma" and the upcoming "Jersey Girl" will write and direct a new film about the masked crimefighter and his martial-arts sidekick, Kato, Miramax Films announced Wednesday.

Smith expects to have a script ready in time to begin shooting scenes of the masked Hornet and his kung-fu-fighting chauffeur, Kato, by late summer.

Great stuff. Looking forward to that. Kevin Smith is brilliant. The fight scenes in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back were obviously comic-y and Charlie's Angels-y but I reckon he could pull it off.

Smith hasn't gotten to the casting stage yet, but said he was intrigued by both actors who were linked to the pic while it was at U. George Clooney had a pay-or-play deal for the title character before Steven Spielberg extricated him to star in DreamWorks' first drama, "The Peacemaker." Jet Li (news) once was linked to the role of Kato.

Sounds promising. Think I'd get sick of Li vs Lee comparisons though.

So you get Li fans(maybe) some Lee fans andGreen Hornet fans. That would work. I think I'd watch it. I'm not sure which one I'd watch it for though.
