This is from our local news paper here on guam and outlines the payment process of the promises that the US has kept putting off for more than 65 yrs as promised when they fought along side the US military.. Help spread the word if you know anyone who might have fought during the war, because it's the least we can do to look out for our Manongs who shared their experiences and training with us in our younger days Guam Senator James Espaldon is urging residents to contact relatives in the Philippines to apply for World War II veteran benefits. President Obama last week authorized one-time benefits for veterans of the war with the signing of the economic stimulus package. Filipino veterans who became U.S. citizens will get $15,000 and non-citizens will get $9,000. Veterans have one year to apply. Survivors are not eligible for benefits. The veterans affairs office in the Philippines is setting up intake locations throughout the country for veterans to submit required documents. Veterans are requested to bring two forms of identification, VA claim number and service number, Philippine veterans affairs office claim number , Philippine veterans affairs office pension bank account number, and U.S. passport (if a U.S. citizen). In addition to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, claims will be accepted this week at the Philippine veterans affairs offices at the following locations: Camp Gen. Aguinaldo, Quezon City; San Fernando, La Union; Baguio; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Cebu City, Cebu; Tacloban City, Leyte; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; Davao City, Davao del Sur; Batangas City, Batangas; Tuguegarao, Cagayan; San Fernando, Pampanga; Legazpi City, Albay; Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental.
