I've noticed WINS will shut off with an event ID of 101 then shortly afterwards will start again with the event ID 100...sometimes the timming between these 2 is moments other times it may be days before the service once again starts...this of couorse impacts the users when they're trying to resolve names....I have just started looking at this (though not part of my responsiblity), any thoughts? I could understand the service maybe shutting down for backup purposes then restarting....but the timing should be relatively within the same time....I have it shutting off on 3/31@9pm and retarting until 4/[email protected] the 3rd it stopped @ 7:34am & started 3 seconds later...????

As a follow up...I researched my entire Wins servers and found they had been set up pretty different....Most were ok but I had some that were pointing to servers that weren't in existence any more.....

Have got them all in synch with the same criteria....time will tell....
