as long as people are able to get to third dan in 5 years, I too am not impressed by dan grades. Its also funny when people put generalisations with each dan grade, like "ahh yes, I too thought like that as a first dan, I didnt truly understand until the higher dans". Its just a wanky way of throwing rank around. Id rather rate somebody on their ability rather than the amount of stripes on their belt. Ive just seen too many crappy martial artists with lots of stripes on their belts.
