Another reason I like the passenger side approach. While it may not totally keep the BG from shooting you, at least you are not retreating into traffic.

Glad the good guy won here.

I always approach passenger side. I'm more concerned about getting hit by a car than shot. Good post!

I discourage people from locking into "always" doing one approach or another. You have to do 'em all because you can be in a situation that forces one or another, and you need to be comfortable with any of them.

If I see an indication that someone is expecting me one place or another -- I tend to go with a different approach... ;)
