"In self defense always remember to KISS(Keep It Swift & Simple)"
"Use your hips"
"You think kicking high means good??!!!!!"
After getting my 1st Deg black belt:
"Don't be cocky now, coz everything you learn up till now isn't very effective for self defense. Practice your one step sparring 100 times each time you come to class now!!"
"It doesn't have to be perfect to be effective. Try your hardest and never get down on yourself"
That advice was given to me because I tend to be a perfectionist, and I get upset if I don't execute my techniques with power, speed, and accuracy every time I throw them. Slowly, my instructor is breaking me out of being my own worst critic
