So, I've been working one of my BB's Greg Jacob's to compete in the course that was just held at Ft Bragg over the last couple of days. Greg, like me was an airborne ranger. The course was filled with Snake Eaters, Delta Force, Snipers, Marine Recon and just about any bad *** that could get there was there. Greg came in 3rd out of 50 in the hand gun, 24th out of 75 in the carbine and for the precision 50 cal. shoot his last hit was at 2000 meters. Not bad for a 50 year old ex, eh? So, I get a call today at 4pm from Greg. He says he's got a question and as me being a jump master he figures I would know the answer. His question is, "how many of your shroud lines on your parachute can be tangled before you are in deep Kimchee. Does 4 seem like too many"? I ask, "ummm, I think you should still be OK, why"? He says because the ground it getting closer and I just wanted to make sure I was still ok". You know I had to ask, "What are you doing right now and he said just hanging around. No Greg, where exactly are you"? He says, "I think about 3000 feet and dropping fast". He had jumped at 33000 feet and pulled his main at 6000. When he noticed the tangled shroud lines he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and called me. He did call later after he was on the ground so we know he's ok. All in all, I would say it was a good day and a great trip.
