Hi all,

I trained intensively in martial arts for 7-years at a school called "Chung Moo Doe" (but the school has gone by many other names). Two things began to occur during that time which have continued since then-- a chronic, red rash appeared around my waist and abdomen, and I began to experience malabsorption/malnutrition and other health issues.

I believe it's possible something was used in the uniform/belt dye which is affecting my health. Has anyone any thoughts on this? Has anyone else experienced health issues while training in martial arts? Could there be some connection to the "higher knowledge" (i.e. the internal or "mind" aspect) of this training? I ask this because I feel intense, inner energies, such as our instructors used to talk about.

I would say for sure this is a physical problem nothing to do with any sort of 'higher mind' stuff, it could be a number of things from an allergy to shingles so the best thing to do is go see your doctor who is the correct and best person to tell you what is wrong and how to treat it.
The intense higher energies are likely to be just normal adrenaline flowing when you train.

First, welcome.

This troubles me for several reasons
You should see a doctor. Then you should run your rash off. I wish you all the best of luck.

Could be allergic to what you use to wash your sport clothing. When we train and sweat, our pores open, and we are much more sensitive to irritants. Try an extra rinse in your wash cycle, and or a hypoallergenic wash detergent.

Also, ask your doctor.

You've got a serious, persistent rash. Could be lots of causes, based on what you describe, from clothes that are too tight to an allergic reaction to the belt or something else. Discuss it with your teachers if you're still training there; they may be able to work with you on finding a different belt if that's the problem. And GO TO A DOCTOR! Persistent rashes are signs that something is wrong, and a doc is the person to help fix it. Even the Minute Clinic at CVS may be enough...

Other than that? I can't address any "higher mind" stuff. Too huge and broad a subject, with too many subjective elements.

1) Go to a doctor soon. It has been years so something bad could be going on.
2) As others mentioned the higher stuff, is way too open and should not be discussed until you have had a chance to see the doctor and find out the root cause to your condition.
