Really shows the similarity of old TKD to our Karate heritage, IMO
Yea the short pants and the longer stances, the way that they did a kick. I know you know but what did youexpect TKD came from Karate so in the beginning all they did was do what they knew.
In this one when they spare they are using mainly hands techniques http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8dC1Pw1gyc&NR=1
This one has them taking the opponet to the ground http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmG7n3LKbYk&NR=1
Yeah, I hear ya Terry. Interestingly, here's some footage less than a decade later, and it is evident how much adapting was done to the original Shotokan techniques.
I recognize a few of the people in the videos as being in GM Hwang Kee's TSD Vol. 1. Saw GM J J Kim, but he is the only one I can put a name to. Anyone know who any of the others are?
Great video. I've seen te other ones before but this was a new one for me. I love seeing footage from back in the day with the various Kwans. Wish more of it was available.
Chris, that's the video GM Jae Joon Kim made. You'll notice GM Kim leading the class and the young GM HC Hwang leading basics.
