I would like to eventually relocate to the Syracuse area. Are there any Ed Paker Kenpo schools in this area. (I know there is a Planas affiliated school near Albany).

Thanks for your input and should I get to the area - I look forward to attending some of the WNY seminars/camps in Buffalo.

I did some digging and found this:
Cny Sasaki Kenpo Karate
6850 E Genesee St
Fayetteville, NY 13066 View Map
(315) 251-1633

They may be affiliated with http://www.sasakikenpo.com/ but I'm only guessing based on similarity of name and the link.

I have no familiarity with them though so can't say what they are like. I'm going to be doing some research later to try and expand the wnyma listings in that area a bit.

When I was at Syracuse University 20 years ago, the area was known for Aikido and Goju-Ryu Karate, and a local flavor of Kung Fu. One Karate instructor also offered Iaido. I know there is also Wing Chun and a form of Indonesian Kung Fu (i.e., Kuntao). When I was at the university there were three martial arts clubs: Aikido, Judo, and Kenpo. I don't know the current status of the university's martial arts scene, though there is some info. available here; Aikido, Fencing, Martial Arts, and Wrestling are mentioned.

Be forewarned that Syracuse has very cold winters. When I was there, certain skin cancer patients were commonly sent to Syracuse because it had such a low percentage of sunny days.
