AIDS is an issue in any part of society. Why are we trying to put more emphasis on one aspect of it than others? Especially since the "leaders" of the black community don't seem to put it as high on the scale as some of their other pet issues? The ways to decrease the spread of AIDS is well known, and they are not being utilized.

In a word, NO. In fact, I don't think she's correct on much of anything. I think she's just race pimping to try to win the black vote away from Obama.

I don't think so. The Office of AIDS Research in the NIH has a budget of $2.9 billion, out of a total NIH budget of $28.6 billion. That's about 10%, which actually is an over-funding given the number of people affected by HIV/AIDS compared to heart disease, stroke and cancer.

Well, I do think you have to consider the following:

Young black women are less likely than young white women to have health insurance, so their access to healthcare, including drugs which prevent progression of HIV to AIDS, and which prevent the spread of HIV is less than that of white women.
