Since I'm new here I just wanted to take a minute to "hi" to everyone and especially to theletch since I've met him face-to-face. What little background I have in martial arts is limited to aikido. I had to give up on that for a while due to some financial and schedule conflicts but I've got all of that sorted out (I think) and I'm looking to get back into training in some sort of art.
Even though everyone at my aikido school was great I am thinking of trying out some other arts to see how I like them. I'm going to visit an American freestyle karate school next week and possibly a kung fu school after that. The kung fu school teaches both northern and southern shaolin styles. I'm not quite sure what to expect out of the kung fu styles so I would appreciate any information that anyone has about them. Any sort of feedback regarding the freestyle karate would also be welcome.
