This is a development that could go either way I fear. A show of solidarity and force could persuade one or both parties to this tension to step back and think a little. Or it could be a trigger point for something fairly likely to ignite a wider conflagration.

I fear we're at a breaking point in history. Each side is doing what they think in necessary for preservation, while at the same time coming closer and closer to the inevitable.

I'm not sure it is even for preservation. For most involved I think it is in order to gain power or preserve power.
