Wow... I remember several things about this particular ship. One; was that it was a popular cartoon TV show in Japan that I read about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato pic below
Two; I recall seeing a model kit of it in some hobby shop in D.C.
Three; it was a neat concept that I wished had made it over to here in the states... now it has via video.

Today I thought of how someone in Japan must've wanted to re-live the glory days when the Japanese at one time had a supreme Naval force to be reckoned with. The Yamato was their crowning achievement and Achilles heel as she was simply too fricken big to be of significant consequence to turn the tide in the pacific war. Now this live action version. Hmm... how neat.
