Do any Kuntao SIlat schools exist in Utah? I can't seem to be able to find any.

There maybe a group in SLC but haven't had contact with them in a few years. I started kuntao silat 25 years ago in OR with a practitioner called Alan Olear from Cebu city. Where did you learn?

Nice! I learned in Los Angeles from Luis Mayoral. He was taught by Master Yeung in Germany.

Cool so was there a definite system? Because learning from guro Alan was sometimes disjointed. There was a method to the " madness " however.

There is a definite system, but it's not as structured I think as say a Shotokan Karate style. Kuntau is just all techniques and a handful of forms. My teacher taught us Kuntau as our main art and also taught us Kenpo and Shotokan separately to augment Kuntau. So we had a structure as far as ranking system and requirements within that ranking system. I can see why it felt disjointed.

Wasn't much for a rank system. If you knew all 12 sayaw and the required applications he would tell you you didn't need to come anymore. Of course he was teaching out of his house and had a very good day job.
