Trying to start the jorney again

I did TKD 6 years ago for about year, and in month i would have gotten green belt. I'm certain about passing the test, but dojang rules stated i had not trained long enough. I thought going back meny times, but longer it took harder it got. Its not fun to have that kinda regret...

Well hopefully i can leave that behind and start new jorney with out more problems. Some of you may alredy know about those, if you have read my other posts. I will probely bother you with some problems again, but i think i have found answer to the one i have now.

Its a month from starting shotokan karate, and i still have some of my doubts about it, but there is no reason to think about it for now. I decided i will at least keep going for one season which is about half year. I'm still relatively young, so using one year won't realy matter that much.

I earned a black belt in TKD in the early 70's, then life got in the way-work, school, kids, youth sports, etc. I have started back after 30 years of layoff. It's not easy and at the age of 66 even warming up is challenging. I started back as a white belt and after 8 months have been told that I need to wear my black belt again. I say that to say this: re-examine your initial reasoning that propelled you to the point of taking your first lesson, then kept your interest through yellow belt. If your reasoning has to do with receiving particular belt colors, rethink it. The art becomes more intensive as you move up the ranks and if wearing a belt is your only reasoning, you won't make it. As to your doubts, you get out of any study what you put into it. If you study hard, you will excel. I must say though, I don't understand the 1/2 year commitment part of your statement. This art is a commitment for life, sometimes it takes most of your life to realize it.

The statement about half year was about the school and not martial arts as whole (i realy want it to be part of my life, and regrets its not). I admit i don't know that much about shotokan karate, and have done it only for while, but i have some dobth, if its the arts i want to study. I'm not studing for only belt rank, the fact that i didin't get my belt is not reason i have regrets, its that i realy think i should have kept doing it, but did not for stupid reason (should have just swallowed my pride and go back after stopping).
