Spring is here again!

The past weeks I spent quite some time prepping my garden for spring: de-mossing, fertilizing, repairing the bald patches grass, ... etc. But now that the weather is turning nice again, I am ready to enjoy the fruits of all that labor: outdoor training!

Yesterday the sun was shining when I got home so I did a short warm up and proceeded to drop myself into a bridgefall from a standing position. The first couple of times I failed and kinda planted my head into the lawn.

Falling into a bridge is not something you can do in a slow, controlled manner. At least, I can't do it. Whenever I tried to arch back slowly and then drop, I landed on my head. I had to arch backwards in one go, with the aim of setting my hands on the ground in one fluid movement. when I did that, it went ok.

Today I'll probably do the same again, with the aid of my digital camera to have some visual feedback on what I am doing. I plan to do this a couple of times every day until the mental barrier to this movement is gone (if you doubt this barrier exists: try doing this yourself :)).

When I get past that, I am going to do the same thing, but starting from a squat and then standing up while arching backwards. This will allow me to ingrain the entire body movement coordination that is needed to do a back handspring. Once that has succeeded, I will try to do the back handspring with a spotter.

For the next weeks however, I will focus on bridge falls.
