Practice is always good ...

I've been helping my Taijiquan Teacher with his beginning class for about a year now. I call myself the Junior Assistant since my Teacher also has his 2 most senior students helping in these classes. The experience of the students in this class consists of those just starting out up to those who have learned most of the second section of the Dong Family Slow Set. Since the students started at different quarters of the year there are 3 or 4 groups at different levels.

The Summer Class started last week and my Teacher's senior students are on an extended vacation so they can't help with the class. My Teacher decided to change the way the class is done to accomodate their absence. In this first class, he had all of the students stay together to practice drills and go over the first several movements of the Slow Set. I followed along with the beginning students.

After the class my Teacher came up to me and said he was sorry there wasn't more for me to do that day. I replied that it was okay since I got to practice my Taijiquan. And practicing, whether as a beginning or advanced student, is always good.

There is always something more to learn, something to see differently, always a movement to do better.
