Passed my 10th and 9th kyu test jujutsu

As with ninpo, the first 2 exams in KJJR jujutsu are done in the same session. But in fairness, the jujutsu curriculum (number of techniques) is more limited than the ninpo curiculum. So all in all it is not that much to study. The most important part of the exam is without a doubt the Takagi Yoshin ryu kata 'Kasumi Dori' which a very formal demonstration of jujutsu techniques in kata format.

We started off with the theoretical question about etiquette, ways of bowing, traditional clothing etc, as well as the basic jujutsu kamae: seigan no kamae. After that we had to perform kasumi dori, and at the end we had to demonstrate the various kaiten (rolls) and ukemi (breakfall).

For myself I can say that I was satisfied with my performance. For this exam I had virtually no nerves and no runaway adrenaline fluster. My adrenalin was going, but I knew that I had studied enough. Knowing all the names and techniques allowed me to stay calm and focused. I didn't have to say 'Umm..' at all before answering a question. And together with staying calm, I remembered not to 'think' about what I had to do, but instead allowed myself to 'do' automatically when the chief sensei gave us instructions. That helped as well, and made my life easier.

My sensei told us in advance to always use maware migi (military way of turning around) for turning around, so I took special care to do just that.

I passed the exam, and am now looking forward to the next kyu on my plate.
