starting a dojo

i am asking everyone and anyone who has started a martial arts dojo;
how hard was it to start?
how long until you turn a profet?
and what thing would i need to know? (besides having a blackbelt in the art)

any help i can get would be aprechated.

You should probably work on advancing past orange belt before worrying about that. Also, does your dad run a dojo? If so, may be easier to ask him, or whoever your own instructor is, for advice, since he knows your style and the area you live in, as well as your own abilities much better than we do.

now i not to consernd about advancing, (when i can put the time and effert into advancing) but what i am asking is for like advice and tip on how to start my own dojo.

You need credibility above all else - can you show your potential students that they should come to you, and keep coming back??.... From the above post, I'd assume not yet.

Forget about opening a dojo, concentrate on your own training, when the time is right it will happen if it's meant to.

As for easy or hard - that's personal to the individual - for some it's easy, others hard, it depends on your existing level of business knowledge, how acedemic you are, the art you teach, whether you want sport/self defence/etc, geography of your school, etc, etc, etc....

As the above suggests, there is more than a black belt needed - also you need to develop yourself in regard to teaching/training/coaching, etc....

All will come with time, first you need to learn your art...

Yes, but why are you worrying about opening your own dojo when you are still an orange belt? You've got a long way to go. And like I said, we dont know the area your from or really anything about you so it would be much more beneficial to ask your dad and/or sensei for help in about 10 or more years when youre experienced enough in your art and in teaching your to maybe open your own dojo. And you need more experience then just a black belt to open a dojo, expecially in tae kwon do if you follow the kukkiwon system.

I would agree with what everyone else has said here... Focus on your own training first. I would think that the worst feeling that any martial arts teacher could face would be to know that they taught someone something that was ineffective, sloppy, or could otherwise get the student hurt...

Also, "having a black belt" really doesn't mean as much as you think... When I was more actively involved as a blue belt (white, yellow, gold, green, blue) I was often tasked with assisting with instructing the junior students (typically white and yellow). It wasn't because I was wearing a blue belt... It was because I had demonstrated a certain amount of knowledge and ability and a desire to share that knowledge and help others develop the ability... That is the mark of a teacher. If opening a school is something you want to do one day, GREAT! We all need to have goals and a vision of the direction we want our martial arts to take us... But before you can teach others, you have to be the best you can be...

Now... Others have mentioned that you are currently an Orange Belt in your system... I would assume this to mean you have tested 1 or 2 times in your martial arts career. And congrats on passing those tests! But, think of martial arts as an iceberg... As a white belt, you can see the iceberg as a little spec... As you move up in rank, you get closer to the iceberg. It will be at least 1 to 2 years before you are standing on the tip of the iceberg... It will be several more years before you realize that what you see of the iceberg is only a small part of the bigger picture... And when you finally reach the level of "black belt", you will realize that you have only just began to learn because the iceberg extends out much further than you were able to realize before...

So, take your time... Focus on becoming a martial artist before you try to share that gift with someone else! ESPECIALLY if you are looking at making a profitable business out of it! After 12 years of study (various systems and schools), I have only just began to realize how limited my own abilities are and I have only ever taught 2 people anything that I know... One of them is my wife and the other is a good friend. Martial arts is a lifetime commitment and if you aren't committed to it, your students will see this and they will not be committed to you...

thank you for your replays
the reason why i am asking now is becouse, my mother and father think in this economy then no one would be able (or want) to pay for this kind of training, and i wanted to ask people who have and are running there own dojo for advise.
i do not think it will take me 4 to 10 years to be at or near black belt level.
once again thank you for your replays
