In the race for ever-thinner displays for TVs, cell phones and other gadgets, Sony may have developed one to beat them all -- a razor-thin display that bends like paper while showing full-color video.Sony Corp. released video of the new 2.5-inch display Friday. In it, a hand squeezes a display that is 0.3 millimeters, or 0.01 inch, thick. The display shows color images of a bicyclist stuntman and a picturesque lake.

How cool is that! I'm having flashbacks from Red Planet :)

Having followed the "Red Planet" link, I'm still mentally digesting the sight of Julia Roberts and Carrie Anne Moss .

Sigh ... I guess I'll have to bow to the geek-side too and follow the other link now :D.

Well eventually those screens will get bigger and bigger and they'll be up to the sizes that we got now ... imagine a 60 inch bendable TV.

The article didn't mention that these thin displays tend to have a low shelf life as they are now. Guess Sony hasn't gotten past that hurtle since they're not trumpeting any improvements in that area.
