Is this daily mail article accurate...anyone?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...xtremists-set-Sharia-law-zones-UK-cities.html

from this article:

Communities have been bombarded with the
posters, which read: ‘You are entering a Sharia-controlled zone – Islamic rules
enforced.’

The bright yellow messages daubed on bus stops
and street lamps have already been seen across certain boroughs in London and
order that in the ‘zone’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’,
‘no porn or prostitution’, ‘no drugs or smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’.
-----------------------------------------------------

What, in light of recent events, will this do in England?

Unfortunately the Daily Mail is perhaps not the best newspaper to quote for unbiased veracity. It is sexist, racist and bigoted, anti-immigration and nationalistic verging on extremist. This story is quite typical of the fear-and-hate mongering of the Daily Mail. However, it garners reasonable readership so perhaps I am the idiot. That aside, this story however is a complete nonsense. I live not far from where they aer suggesting this new Islamic sovereign state is being initiated. Yes there is a large non-indigenous population however to make the assertions that they are doing is simply to rile their insular and closed-minded readership. And that it will undoubtedly do.

What will this do in England? Hopefully gradually cause its remaining readership to realise that the Daily Mail is a pile of crap.

It won't lead to a soveriegn state, but if they are doing this it just ramps up the problem. If it is actually happening.

Did you miss the following quote from the very article you posted?

"Scotland Yard is now working with local councils to remove the posters and identify those responsible for putting them up."

SHARIAH IS COMING! Right before the police tear it down...

Can't find whatever it was that this was 'tickling' in the back of my mind - it was that such posters were actually put up by anti-immigration groups to stimulate outrage but can't find anything to back that up. Ah well.

Did find this tho:

http://www.christian.org.uk/news/residents-reject-islamists-calls-for-sharia-law-in-uk/

Ohttp://www.christian.org.uk/news/residents-reject-islamists-calls-for-sharia-law-in-uk/h and that 'Jammal' is the least convincing Muzlim Extremist I've ever seen by the way - odd how he was so keen to pose for the Mail's photographer's don't you think?

To back Jenna up to and reiterate what I've said more than once, the Daily Mail is tabloid scandal-sheet not a newspaper - there is a reason why there are jokes about the Daily Mail gene.

To round off, this quote form the Mail article is significant:

"Scotland Yard is now working with local councils to remove the posters and identify those responsible for putting them up."

That means some small minded little racists are in a spot of bother now. The laws against "Hate Speach" and "Inciting Racial Hatred" cut both ways (thank the non-existent Sky God).

These people really need to read up on their British history. We're all nice and welcoming (within certain limits admittedly) until someone or something pisses us off ... then it's riot and blood on the ground until something is sorted out. There is a good reason why we have the Riot Act you know .

yeah, cuz taking them down? that solves EVRYTHING...........

/ sarcasm

seriously?

You're the one being unserious. The group that the interviewed man belongs to? Banned. Putting up the posters? A criminal act to which the government is responding. There can be no "shariah" when the enforcement of such is illegal.

Ugh, this gets to be so vile. Bordering on incitement.

you think any of that matters to them? you keep thinking INSIDE this little tiny box of your experiences, youneed to get OUTSIDE the box and realize what you are dealing with.

they dint recognize local law, they truely believe that allah is on thier side, so they dont have to listen to anyone that isnt muslim.

Where is this magical OUTSIDE location where members of a banned group performing criminal acts means that they are able to force their religious laws on everyone else? I may be just a simple man, incapable of the depths of understanding to which you can sink, but it seems to me a little hard to enforce your religious will when doing so is illegal.

So? There are plenty of people in every city in the United States and the UK who believe this way. That only becomes a problem, "SHARIAH IN THE UK!", when everyone else goes along with it. Guess what sunshine? Everyone else is not going along with it.

That last bit is the real point - agitators can 'declare' and 'post' all they like. As I said earlier, people who try to make us do what what we really don't want to do, get a rude awakening and a size 12 up the jacksie. If we've done it to our own government (including rendering a king sans one head), what do you think we'll do to a bunch of loud-mouth 'Koran-thumpers' if they try to throw their weight about too much?

you guys are ignoring the big picture, i guess it is too frightening to admit to. you can say "it's illegal, so it doesnt matter" all you want, but what if they dont care? and what does the fact that they are willing to do this mean?

The point of this post, is this really coming from the muslim community or is it someone who isn't muslim trying to stir up trouble? They are different problems and need different approaches.

but what if they dont care?

Well neither do we. Bring it on Sharia boy ... oh wait, we really don't give a ...

As I said, we'll be nice and polite and understanding et al, right up to the point where someone gets a bit too up themselves and thinks they can start throwing their weight around (even if they haven't got any).

and what does the fact that they are willing to do this mean?

Sweet FA, mate. It means they are awesomely scary ignorers of the "Post No Bills" bye-laws - I don't think we, as a populace care that much, other than ripping their silly signs down. Some EDL or BNP Hitler-wannabes might shout a bit but that's about it.

Unfortunately I think that is the exactly issue.

For you (along with most traditional Daily Mail readers and millions of others who are I think insular in their perceptions), this really is all they need to know. They are happy to have their existing prejudices confirmed. They are happy to pigeonhole the world as simple black-and-white, good-and-bad. Thus it was for Anders Breivik.

Read more widely outside your normal sources of information and find if you really are getting the full picture. This OP is not the beginning of the overthrowing of UK law. Yet to read this article in isolation one might be lead to believe that. It is necessary to read more thoroughly.

The world extends beyond you. Commit the ultimate sacrilege and tune to Al Jazeera and listen to their points of view on any apparently pro-Islam atrocities. It might surprise you to hear them speak with the same revulsion as you would have yourself. All I mean is that to fail to equip yourself with the full body of knowledge and wide-ranging opinion is to drive yourself (and perhaps those who look up to you for wisdom) eventually to bigotry. And I would hope that if nothing else you would agree that mutual tolerance and acceptance is more conducive to a peaceful society than mutual hatred and bigotry.

Yes, you cannot account for the actions and behaviours of others and but you can account for your own. If you feel hatred is to be met with hatred then that is your prerogative. If you feel intolerance is to be met with intolerance then that also is your choice. It is unfortunately though a solution to nothing.
