Seeking ATA Instructors to Interview

Hi, all,

I'm working on an article for ATA World (formerly The Way of Tae Kwon Do Magazine) about martial arts in the media. Here's a description of the article:

***
FEATURE

"Now Showing: Martial Arts in the Media" This feature takes a
look at how martial arts are presented in films - how they're
realistic, how they're not - with an eye towards dispelling
misconceptions. The focus of the piece is on what the ATA [American
Taekwondo Association] wants a martial artist to look like, and how that
compares with Halle Berry as Catwoman, etc. [ie, martial arts are
not about violence, but about personal growth, etc.]

With pull out quotes from students who have been inspired by these films
***

I need to interview (by phone) ATA instructors and a few students of ATA schools. Anyone interested? Please e-mail me at [email protected].

Thanks!

I found some instructors, thanks! But now I need to talk with a few students of ATA schools (via e-mail is fine) about their feelings about how MA are represented in the media or how they've been influenced by MA in the media (maybe you joined because of a movie or TV show you saw?). If you're interetsed, please e-mail me ASAP (as my deadline is this week) at [email protected].

On a different note, this past weekend I tested for the stripe on my brown belt (in Okinawa kobujutsu) -- and passed! Whew!
