If this has already been dicussed to death I appologize, it`s the first I`ve heard of it. On another thread someone mentioned the Ammunition accountability act so I googled it to see what it was. If I understand correctly it`s been proposed on various state and federal levels, but I don`t know if it`s been passed into law anywhere.

Basically it would require the marking of each slug and shell casing with matching id numbers that could be tracked, and require all ammo without those numbers to be disposed of. Wouldn`t that be the end of reloading in the US?

Yes, it has been discussed.

No, it is not law and God willing, it never will be.

Yes, it could be the end of reloading. They have kicked the idea around of having the firing pin/striker imprint the ID number into the primer.

The thing the big wigs are forgetting is that the BGs will not care. They want us to have no ability to defend ourselves from them, they could care less about the other criminals.

Thanks.

I used to buy alot of ammo made over seas because it was cheaper. Looks like imported mil surplus would become a thing of the past too.

You can bet that when this "act" came to the attention of gun lovers and reloaders ... there was a run on powder, caps, bullets and etc. So that those that are purchased now won't have the identification imprints on them. Likewise there'll be an increase of folks making their own cast bullets.
Okay not MUCH of an increase but it'll be notable...

This makes me shake my head because at the moment I am prohibited from purchasing firearms (but thankfully not ammo) due to being at one time young and stupid and getting in just enough trouble where a firearm background check would negate such ideas of buying my own guns.
I don't like the idea of the government keeping track of who has what and how many... it smacks of the first things that the National Socialist Party did in Germany back in 1939 when they came to power... got records of who owned weapons and then later confiscated them for the greater good... the good of the party because it just took away any serious incentive to protest and fight back.

Those who cannot remember history...

The law is a backdoor ammunition ban, as the cost of producing ammunition would skyrocket, and any ammunition on hand would be illegal to possess.

One should consider this type an act Lexington and Concord 2 if it passes.
