Seems that after being President isn't as lucrative as it might be thought...
Interesting article on what past leaders are making after they leave office...

Upon taking up residency in the White House, a president also assumes a tidy salary of $400,000 a year, plus extra cash for expenses. That’s certainly not the kind of change you’d find under most couch cushions, but it’s not such a princely sum that the president will be set for life when leaving office. While many leaders are either independently rich enough or old enough that they just retire after leaving office, others are desperate to make a buck or a pound. So how do ex-presidents and other former world leaders support themselves as they while away the autumn of their years?
Bill Clinton seems to be doing quite alright for himself... I dunno if his speeches are quite worth $250K ... but then who knows, mebbe he gives sorrid details of him and Monica.

Don't they get a roughly $100K/year pension, plus an office/secretary and 10 years' worth of Secret Service protection?

I believe it is 250,00 per year now, but the real money is in being a motivational speaker for an hour. Man that would be a great job anytime.

The REAL money will now come right after a Pres leaves office.... They can get on a Fortune 500 corporate board or high VP slot..... run the company into the ground.... collect millions in bonuses, stock options for killing your company... plus some vacation loot from the taxpayers....
