Nipple issue

I've got this friend...
Every so often while training his nipples will get hard, not from arousal but just from all the blood flowing he thinks. Well once it starts, it doesn't take long till they end up getting rubbed raw from his Gi. Now he knows he prob sounds like a girly man and he donned his flamesuit, but it gets to the point where it really starts to hurt. He has had to bow out of class real quick and put a bandaid over it to stop the rubbing.
Anybody else have this issue?

I know I'm going to get crap for this, but if it makes someone smile then I guess it was worth it?

I'd either apply the bandaids before starting training, or wear a teeshirt.

wear a t-shirt dude
i mean make your "friend" wear one
hey, training makes people have weird things
sorry to say, but farting is the most common associate of the horse stance, and hard-ons are the associate of stretching for lots of people
embarrassing though!

It appears to be fairly common with some men (and women); it is a subject that is rarely brought up. Physical action tends to do that and needs not to be confused with "being turned on". There is nothing really that can be done to minimize the hardening--it is a natural response to vigorous workouts. Now, the chaffing is a side effect. How severe the chaffing depends a lot on what is worn. Females usually don't have to worry too much with this since wearing a bra naturally offers protection. For the men, you have mentioned one solution, using bandaids (or use moleskin, which could be purchased at some pharmacies). Some guys prefer wearing snug rashguard shirts. Eventually, the chaffing usually does go away once the body becomes more conditioned. All you can do is advise your friend to try different ways to reduce the chaffing and he will find the best solution that works for him.

Well, I figure you got some choices.

Big X's in duct tape over each one

Sports bra

surgically remove them

Or just wear a t-shirt, preferably a dry-fit polyester one ;)

I don't have this problem with the martial arts but have on occasion had it with some shirts. Very annoying.

I'm at work so I couldn't search nipple :)

OMG hehehe, that's hilarious.

I totally support using UNDERARMOR. I always wear it, always always. Even under a tshirt. Bodyglide is good stuff too but the underarmor negates it's usefulness.

This is absolutely the best thread for a rainy Tuesday morning at work.

Oh, the gas I've passed in class from my...well, nevermind that. I've had both the nipple and the gas issue. The first, just barely perceptable as I do always wear a t-shirt; the second, usually hilariously loud at odd moments of stretching and a couple times during sparring..

As for the third effect, a cup stops that right away.

Do you think compression shorts might help? Supression shorts, maybe?

Not the standard ones. Get the ones with "Plug-In" protection. Then take a picture and send it to me. :)
