Hi everyone,

Can anybody provide me with details of the parts of a sword in korean?

I dont like calling it a tsuba for example in korean arts as I presume there is a korean term?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

FD.

No problem. Let me know if there are any parts that I'm missing. I can also add the Hangul if you're interested.

Gum-Ko: Sword tip
Gum-Nal: Sword Blade
Gum-Deung: Sword Back
Gum-Nal Gae: Edges of the Gum Deung Literally Sword Wing
Gum-Mahk Kee: Sword Block, round disk between the blade and Gum-Ja Ru
Home: Blood Line, indentation in the blade
Gum-Ja Ru: Sword Handle
Gum-Jab Yi Gut Sword handle butt
Gum Bae: Side of the blade
Gum-Jeep: Sword Scabbard

Thank you very much MBuzzy. The hangul wont be necessary, although much appreciated!

Is Gum-Nal Gae: (Edges of the Gum Deung Literally Sword Wing) the cutting edge? Sorry if thats a stupid question!

Thanks again!

No, it isn't...it is the two edges on the opposite side of the blade itself. i.e. Gum Deung is the blunt part, Gum Nal Gae are the edges of the blunt part.
