I will be picking up some students in the next few weeks and I'm wondering what you think the insurance protocol may be?

These will be a few independent students, basically in my back yard or in public parks, so no real school affiliation. My worry is that when dealing with pointy objects or even wooden versions, insurance gets touchy, how do you deal with this?

Check into an umbrella policy, and also you can look into martial arts insurance. It's often not as bad as many expect... Don't expect that your standard home insurance policy will be much protection!

I would think at the least you will have to be carrying some insurance. Lowest prices seem to be around $500 year. Still it is some thing that you really have to have.
