This week, on tuesday through friday, I am babysitting 3 kids (6, 9, and 12) while their mom is at work from 9-3:30.

I ususally let the people I am working for decide the rate, but she insisted that I tell her what I charge.

I HAVE NO IDEA...?

Three kids ,mine are 8-9-12 and I would pay around 200.00 for the week.
So 200.00 it is.

I'd say that taking care of three kids is worth $10-12/hour, and that is on the low end.

By your figures, that is roughly $300.00 for a week. When I work, I typically pay between $230-$360 bi-weekly for my two kids.

I agree. I would expect to pay about $12-$14 for my three.

I don't have kids (yet), and I don't have a clue on how much people charge for a nanny. I'm just saying that if I was 18, and was going to watch someones kids for 6.5 hours per day, then I would charge 10-12/hour. I'm not worried about market rates, I'm saying that is a minimum of what my time is worth.

I would agree with Lamont and MRE - at least $10-12/hour, and $12-14 would be better; more kids should cost more per hour.

The other thing I would suggest is going with an hourly rate - I'm don't know the person you're sitting for at all, but from my own long-ago experience with babysitting, flat rates are open to abuse - people who are paying by the hour are much more likely to be home on time unless being late truly can't be avoided.
