so my question is going to dress up in a costume for halloween and who is going to go to a halloween party this year? What is everyones plan?

I plan to dress up but do not know what I will dress up as. I plan to hand out candy at home to trick or treaters untill about 8:00 then probably hit the bars. A few years back me and some friends dressed up and rented a limo and went bar hopping all over town. We got smashed in the limo. One of the girls with us made jello shooters made with vodka, they were good. I dressed up as Gene Simmons from KISS. I had my face painted just like his and had a jet black wig. It was great. We had a blast that night.

I'll take the boys trick or treating. I haven't decided what my own costume will be, either 50s style with a poodle skirt or a pirate wench. yes, kinda booooooooooo-ring.

Next year I will (hopefully) have more time to put a great costume together and I can be a little more creative.

My family has a birthday very near Halloween, so we'll likely be celebrating that.

As for myself, I'll be tied up all night trying to dress up as a liberal conservative. :uhyeah:

I've not dressed up for halloween for a while. Last time was I wore my caving helmet, borrowed an army folding shovel and a giant stuffed rabbit and called myself.....

a miner/minor

get it huh? huh huh? get it

But what I'd LIKE to do is find a store where I live (now) that has foam pumpkins that are hollow and carve out some neat designs like... these. :uhyeah:
The grey area on the second pic is where you thin out the outer skin thus giving the picture some depth. Neato mosquito huh?

Caver, we had a pumpkin carving contest one year and some of the entries used the skin to produce depth. Fantastic!. The best part was roasting and eating the seeds. You can get kits to do these designs or just wing it with baby powder and a needle.

I have never been to a halloween party. I would like to though, I guess we just havent ever found one. And NO one in our town trick or treats anymore, seriously we had 3 kids last year. I feel like halloween has lost steam in my town. It sucks as though those were the funnest times when I was a kid, like one big hangout!

It is sad how the tradition of door to door trick or treating has fizzed out or be regulated in some places to church buildings with classrooms doubling as "houses" and the kids safely going door to door collecting treats that way.
Just got to dang dangerous and parents don't want to play the escort anymore it seems.
My parents have stopped with the candy dispensing and make sure all lights are off in the house while it's happening... to give the impression that nobody is home.
Also last year I was sadden to learn (but understanding the necessity and support it) that all registered sex offenders were forbidden to even be home during certain hours of select trick or treating. They had to be somewhere else (verified)... a bar or anywhere there aren't any children.

Most parties seem to be taken over by the professional haunted houses. Some can be quite good and others are just... well... like "gimme a break okay" the guy in the hockey mask and chain saw is soooo cliche'.
So you just go for the laughs.

I convinced my children to not want to go trick-or-treating this year (ages 9, 11, & 12), telling them I would buy them each 2 bags of candy on clearance after halloween...lol. There is a haunted trail in the woods the I am going to take them to instead...or since it's on a Friday, might take them to Salem...haven't yet decided.

Halloween is the only holiday I ask off from work.

I enjoy watching all the people in costume.

The fact that it dose not fall on the full moon as it should but on a specific date dose not matter to most so I just enjoy the fun of the day

As for dressing up. I never know what I will end up doing until that day

It depends on the weather: warm, and I wear a black t-shirt with orange letters that says "This is my costume"; cold, and I wear an orange sweatshirt with a pumpkin face on it. Happily, this year we are having a district-wide in-service on Halloween; as much as I find them to be useless, I still prefer not having school on Halloween... even though costumes are not allowed, it gets pretty crazy.
