A pretty typical, tame Halloween evening at the homestead- handed out candy, talked with neighbors, that kind of thing. We were late buying our candy, so didn't have much in the way of variety.

What we did have, though, was quantity. I ended up going to Costco and buying a box of full-sized Twix and Peppermint Patties to hand out. I had estimated we wouldn't get that many kids (I was right- 19 was the headcount including the neighbor's kids), so handed out one of each to every kid.

One little girl was absolutely ecstatic. "This is awesome! Nobody around here gives the *real* candy bars out! I'm gonna come by here again!" I laughed, and said "Here, I'll save you the trip" (dumps two more candy bars in her bag). "Oh, wow! Thanks a lot!" She ran off, "Mommy, mommy! Look what they gave me!"

It's a small thing... but it kinda make me smile inside.
